(b. 16 July 1926,
When he returned to Turkey, he
became a faculty member at Hacettepe University (1964) where he established the
Anthropology Department. He became associate professor (1969) and professor
(1977). He served as the Undersecretary of Culture in 1974. He retired in 1993
after he had worked as the Head of the Department of Anthropology at Hacettepe
University for a while. He is known for his research on mankind, culture,
identity, education and change. He has received many awards and medals from
various foundations. He is a member of Turkish Advancement Association
(chairman in 1972).
