She was born in Zonguldak. Her first training in
art was in Istanbul from Artist Fuat Bey. She worked oil paints and design with
Mustafa Esirkuş. Throughout her years at high school she joined art courses by
O. Zeki Oral at the Ankara State Gallery of Fine Arts. In 1972, she joined the
Atelier of Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu at the Academy of Fine Arts. She spent time on
artistic research in Hannover and Bremen. She got a BA degree in Sculpture from
Marmara University, Ataturk Training Faculty, Fine Arts Education Department
and a MA degree in Painting from Educational Sciences Institute, Department of
Fine Arts Education at the same Faculty. Her graduate education was in
Professor Bünyamin Özgültek’s Imprint Atelier and Professor Ramiz Aydın’s
Painting Atelier. Her thesis topic was: Ayetullah Sümer as a Tutor and Artist.
Being involved in art for more than 40 years she
has opened more than 35 personal exhibitions in Turkey and abroad, participated
in several competition exhibitions and group exhibitions. She organised and
participated in the exhibitions of the “Marmara Art Group”, which she also
founded.
She participated group exhibitions abroad, in
Nicosia-Cyprus in 1995 and Warsaw – Poland in 2000. Her personal exhibition at
Gallery Gaswerk in scope of the Ortung3 Biennial in 2003 in Germany’s Schwabach
Town gained interest in German media.
3 of her works were selected for exhibition at
the 3rd International Tehran Biennial in 2005 and were published in
a special catalogue featuring 11 Turkish artists. She participated in art
symposiums and organizations in Turkey and abroad. In 2017, she participated in
five group exhibitions in HLS Gallery in London and in Marziart internationale
Gallery in Hamburg in 2018.
Her works including oil paints, watercolors,
mask and sculptures have been included in special private and public
collections ranging from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, banks, museums
and municipalities. 3 of her works accepted by the Ministry of Culture and
Tourism jury were included in the Ministerial collection. Her works were
included in the “Selections from Ziraat Bank Collection” exhibitions in 1986
and 1995. She joined the competitive exhibition on Family in Painting organized
by the Prime Ministry’s Family Council. She was awarded plaques and
certificates from various institutions.
In 2014 she created the Mermaid of the Prince’s
Island’s sculpture on Buyukada seaside in scope of the Island Art Platform,
which she is the founding partner. After completion she gifted the sculpture to
the people of the island. The sculpture has become one of the icons of the
island and has been an attraction for most local and foreign visitors.
She has been part of the selection committee of
several competitions organized throughout Turkey. She also worked in the
selection committee for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Taksim Art
Gallery. For long years Taneri acted as member of the board of directors of
Fine Arts Union Art Association. She also is member of Gesam, Unesco AIAP
Turkey National Committee, and International Association of Plastic Arts. She
continues to work at her atelier in Goksu, Istanbul.
