Academician, Professor, Resarcher-Writer and Translator. Prof. Dr. Aysıt
Tansel is the daughter of writer, poet Oğuz Tansel. She is teaching part time at the
Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. She graduated as the top
student of her class from Adana Girls High School. She received her Bachelor of
Science degree with high honors from Middle East Technical University, her
masters from University of Minnesota and her doctorate from State University of
New York.
She was a visiting scholar at 1990-1993 at
the Yale University and at 2011-2012 at the Cornell University. She is a research fellow of the Institute of
Labor Economics (IZA) in Bonn and the Economic Research Forum (ERF) in Cairo.
Her publications have appeared in journals such as Economics of Education
Review, Economic Development and Cultural Change, Journal of Development
Economics, Public Choice, Applied Economics and Weltwirtschaftliches Archiv.
She is in the editorial board of the following journals: Economics of
Education Review, Equality Diversity and Inclusion, Turnalar-International Journal of Turkish Language, Literature
and Translation and Economy-Tek. Her areas of interest are Economics of
Education in particular and Labor
Economics in general.
She is also interested in literature in
particular poetry and folklore. Her translations in these areas in particular
her poetry translations from Oğuz Tansel are published in numerous journals and
books.
