Historian (b. 10 July 1923, Akin village / Seyitgazi / Eskişehir – d. 26 November 1999, Ankara). He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Language, History and Geography (1946). He worked as a primary school teacher in Kars (1941- 42) and history teacher in Akçadağ (Malatya, 1944) and Ankara (1949-50). He was appointed to Ankara University, Faculty of Divinity as an assistant after he worked as a librarian (1949-50) in Bursa for a time. He completed his PhD at the same faculty (1952) and became an associate professor (1958) and professor (1966) and worked as the chairman of Department of Islamic Civilization and Social Sciences. Yurdaydın, who was the dean of the faculty for a time (1966-68), worked as the manager of Turk-Islam Researches Centre and chairman of Turkish Historical Society, New Age Research and Application Division. He made researches in Germany, France, Canada, United States, England and Pakistan and gave lectures on his field. The articles of Yurdaydın, who wrote many articles for İnönü Encyclopedia, were published in the reviews such as DTCF, AÜ İlahiyat Fakültesi and Vakıflar as well as associate books.
