Poet and writer (b. 1927, Gürün / Sivas – d. 26 February 1984, Ankara). He attended Niğde Elementary School and graduated from Adana High School for Boys (1948) and Ankara Gazi Institute of Education Department of Literature  (1950). He was dismissed from his office as a teacher, which he had started in Göksün (Maraş), for participating in political activities. He was arrested and imprisoned (1951). On his release, he worked as a street letter-writer in Gürün and Sivas, sign and portrait painter and construction worker (1954- 60). He settled in İstanbul in 1960 and then in Ankara. He worked at the review Akis and administered the review Forum for a time (1968- 70). He was charged under article 142 of the Turkish Constitution because of his book Kızılırmak (Kızılırmak) but was acquitted.

Hasan Hüseyin started to write poems in his youth and his first poem, Ağustos Şiiri (August Poem), was published in the review Dost in 1959. Afterwards, he wrote for the reviews Dost (1959-66), Yelken (1959-64), Varlık (1960), İmece (1961), Ataç (1962-63), Yön (1962) and Sosyal Adalet (1963-65). His humorous short stories were also published in these years. He won the 1964 Yeditepe Poetry Prize with his book Kavel (Shepard’s Pipe), the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation Art Achievement Award in 1970 with Kızılkuğu (The Red Swan, 1971) and the Toprak and Nevzat Üstün Poetry Award in 1981 with Filizkıran Fırtınası (The Bud-Breaking Storm, 1981).
