Poet and
writer (b. 11 February 1953, Zara / Sivas). He also used the pen name Selim
Gökçe. He attended primary and secondary schools in Sivas and graduated from
Bursa Institute of Education, Department of Turkish Language and Literature (1975).
He worked as an expert at the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (1976),
as a columnist and editor in the newspaper Hergün
(1978-79), as a teacher of Turkish language and literature at the schools under
the Ministry of National Education (1979-85). He also worked as an editor of
culture and art section of the newspaper Tercüman
(1985-91), as an advisor at the Ministry of Culture (1991), as an editor of
culture and art in the newspapers Türkiye
and Zaman (1992-95). He has continued
his studies as a member of the Radio and Television Supreme
Board since
2001.
Ayvazoğlu is a founding member of
Writers Union of Turkey, the Professional Association of Scientific and
Literary Work Owners of Turkey; a founding member and general secretary of the
Children Foundation, a member of the Turkish Journalist Association, the
Editing Board of the Turkish Foundation of Religious Affairs’ Islam
Encyclopedia Turkish Language and Literature Sciences and Board of Repertoire
of the Municipal Theater in İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
His first
article was published in the local newspaper Hizmet in Sivas, in 1968. He published his other works in many
newspapers and reviews such as; Hizmet, Ötüken, Defne, Hisar, Türk
Edebiyatı, Hareket, Divan, Dergâh, İzlenim, Türkiye Günlüğü, Yeni Türkiye,
Hergün, Tercüman, Türkiye, Zaman, Aksiyon, etc. He collected the Turkish Authors Association
Author of the Year Award in the category of thought in 1982 with his book
titled Aşk Estetiği (The
Esthetics of Love); the Award of Contribution to Turkish National
Culture in 1986 with a documentary titled Muradiye, Ölü ve Gül (Muradiye, Death and Rose); and the
Turkish Authors Association Author of the Year Award in
