Writer (b. 20 September 1948, İstanbul). He studied naval engineering and machine engineering at Michigan University in the United States after having graduated from Naval High School and Naval College (1969). In 1988 he left the Navy after having worked as a certified naval engineer.

His first short stories were published in literature reviews in 1969. He became one of the writers of the humor review Akbaba when he won the Yusuf Ziya Ortaç Award with his one-act play Dünya Dönüyor (The World Spins). He also wrote for the newspapers Milliyet and Cumhuriyet as well as Akbaba. Some of his stories have been translated into foreign languages. He continued writing professionally until his retirement in 1988.

He came third at the Milliyet Publications Novel Award in 1979 with his first novel Korugan (The Hangar). He won the Madaralı Novel Award in 1983 with his novel Kiracı (The Tenant), the Sabahattin Ali Short Story Award in 1983 with Vidalar (The Screws) and came first at the Ministry of Culture Children’s Literature Awards in 1979 with Yeşil Bayır (The Green Slope). He won the Yunus Nadi Short Story Award with Aynalar (The Mirrors) in 1994 and the İş Bankası Grand Award with Kirpi (The Hedgehog) in 1996.
