Ferhan Şensoy

Actor and writer (b. 26 February 1951, Çarşamba / Samsun- d. 31 August 2021, Istanbul). His full name is Osman Ferhan Şensoy. He started his secondary school education at Galatasary High School and completed it in Çarşamba High School (1970). Interrupting his education at the Fine arts Academy, Department of Architecture, he went to France and graduated from Strasbourg Theater School (1974). On his return to Turkey, he worked as an actor and playwright at private theatres (1975-80). He has been managing the “Ortaoyuncular” theatre group he founded since 1980. He received the Dergi 13 Best Play and Best Writer Awards with his play Şahları da Vururlar (Shahs Are Also Shot, 1982) and the Tiyatro 70 Best Actor Award (1980) in addition to the 1979 / 80 Avni Dilligil Jury Special Award. For the stage management of his play, İstanbul’u Satıyorum (I Am Selling İstanbul), he received the 1980 Ulvi Uraz Award. His stories have been published in the magazines Yeni Ufuklar, Soyut, etc.
