Poet and writer (b. 1901, Jerusalem – d. 23 June 1967, İstanbul). He started his elementary education at Kadıköy High School and then attended Halkalı Agriculture School. He graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of Philosophy (1930). He returned from Paris where he had lived for a time, and worked as a teacher of literature at Ankara and Sivas high schools and as a public education director (1930-34) in Sivas. He worked as a student examiner in Europe and as an advanced education director at the Ministry of Public Education. He was a member of the Department of Training and Education (1941-42) and he became the parliamentary deputy of Ankara and Urfa (1942-46). Afterwards he worked as a teacher at the Ankara State Conservatoire (19469 and as a student examiner and cultural attaché in France (1949). He was a teacher of literature at Galatasaray High School for a long time starting in 1951. He was promoted to professor of aesthetics at the Academy of Fine Arts.

Ahmet Kutsi Tecer was a poet who wrote in syllabic meter and was also known for his plays as well as his sincere and sensitive folk poems. He published the review Görüş (1930-32) in Ankara and made a valuable contribution to folklore research. Tecer’s poetry was published firstly in the reviews Dergâh and Millî Mecmua and later mostly in reviews such as Varlık (1933-35), Oluş (1939), Yücel (1941), Ülkü (1941-45), Türk Düşüncesi (1953-54) and in later years, again in the review Varlık (1960).
