Literature researcher (b. 24 Mat 1924, Harput / Elazığ – d. 8 September 2001, İstanbul). He completed his primary and elementary education in Elazığ. He passed the free boarding exam of the İstanbul High Teacher’s School and entered into (1944) İstanbul University, the Faculty of Letters, Department of Turkology and graduated from that department in 1948. He worked as a teacher of literature in Diyarbakır and Aydın high schools. He administered the review Karacadağ during his education in Diyarbakır. He was sent to Paris to undergo training by the Ministry of Public Education. He was appointed to the İstanbul Çapa Institute of Education as a teacher of literature. He stayed at his post until to 1969. Meanwhile he graduated from Ankara University, the Faculty of Law (1960). He worked as a lecturer at the High Teacher’s School from 1969 and retired in 1974. Afterwards, he gave lectures of literature in Turkish Music Conservatoire.

First article of Ahmet Kabaklı (Yunus Emre mi Haklı, Gölpınarlı mı?, Who is Right, Yunus Emre or Gölpınarlı?) was published in the newspaper Son Saat on 20 November 1946. His polemic articles were published in the review Hareket that was published by Nurettin Topçu, his political humors and commentaries were published in the review Bizim Türkiye. His poetry and articles were also published in the reviews Hisar and Yeni İstanbul. He won the anecdote award that held by the newspaper Tercüman (with Emil Galip Sandalcı and Hakkı Gülmen) and continued to write anecdotes with intervals. He founded the Turkish Literature Association with his friends Nihat Sami Banarlı, Mehmet Kaplan, Mümtaz Turhan, Tarık Buğra and İrfan Atasagun. He administered the review Türk Edebiyatı (January 1972) that was published by this association. He was also one of the founders of the Turkish Literature Foundation that he constituted by academicians and writers. He is among the most important writers of our late literature and thought life with his history of literature Türk Edebiyatı and various thought books that he has published lately. He was buried to Eyüp Sultan Cemetery. He won the 1976 Turkey Association of National Culture Thought Award with Bürokrasi ve Biz (Bureaucracy and Us) and the Writers Union of Turkey Thought Award with the first volume of his work Temellerin Duruşması (The Trial of the Foundations). He was given the Şeyh-ül Muharrir title of privilege in December 1996 (on the 50th anniversary of his thought life) with pioneering of the Guild of Intellectuals.
