International relations expert, academician, politician and statesman, Prime Minister of Turkey. He was born on the 26th of February 1959 in Taşkent, Konya. After completing his high school education in Istanbul Erkek High School he graduated in 1983-1984 academic year from Boğaziçi University’s Economy and Political Science and International Relations programs within a double major study program. He completed his master’s degree in Public Administration department, and PhD in Political Science and International Relations in the same university.

Davutoğlu started to work as an assistant associate professor in 1990 in International Islamic University of Malaysia. He was entitled to be an associate professor in 1993. He established the university’s Political Science Department and was its head until 1993. After his assignments abroad between 1990 and 95, he was assigned to academic membership between 1995 and 99 in Marmara University’s International Relations Department. He gave lectures between 1998-2002 in Armed Forces College and War Colleges as a guest lecturer. He was an Executive Board Member, Senate Member and Head of the International Relations Department between 1999 and 2004 in Beykent University with the title of professor.

Ahmet Davutoğlu was assigned to Foreign Policy Consultancy within the 58. Government after the general elections of 3 November 2002. He was also Chief Advisor of Prime Minister and Ambassador. He continued his duties in the 59th and 60th governments. On the 17th of January 2003 Davutoğlu was granted the title of ambassador with a common decision of the current President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and current Prime Minister Abdullah Gül according to a decision published in the Official Gazette on the 18th of January 2003.

Davutoğlu was assigned on the 1st of May 2009 to Foreign Ministry by Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). He served as Turkish Foreign Minister during the 58th, 59th and 60th governments and chief advisor of foreign policy to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and to Minister and then President Abdullah Gül. He was elected as Parliament Member in the 2011 General Elections in Konya. Joining TBMM (24. period), he was assigned to Foreign Ministry within the 61. Government declared on the 6th of July 2011 by the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Ambassador Davutoğlu was one of the key figures of shuttle diplomacy applied by the Turkish Government in order to find a solution to Gaza War. He participated to numerous meetings, events and television programs in various national television channels as a speaker in his field. His works were translated to and published in various languages such as Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Persian and Albanian. Besides, his articles were published in numerous newspapers and magazines. He also wrote as a columnist in the newspaper “Yeni Şafak” for a while. “İlim ve Sanat”, “İzlenim” and “Divan” are magazines in which his articles were published in Turkey. Many articles of him concerning foreign policy, political science and culture were published in edited books. He received the “2001 Award of Idea” of Writer’s Union of Turkey with his work titled “Stratejik Derinlik” in which he deeply analyzed Turkish foreign policy and international problems and which is one of the most important works of last years. He pioneered many scientific and academic works in activities of Foundation of Science and Art.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Davutoğlu was a prominent name in foreign policy issues with his famous work "Strategic Depth", before he was involved in politics. And he was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs on May 1, 2009 out of the TGNA. He was the principal consultant for Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan during 58th, 59th and 60th governments and also for Abdullah Gul during his term as minister and President. 

Prof. Davutoğlu has entered TGNA on June 12, 2011 elections as 24th Term Konya Deputy from JDP. He continued to be the Foreign Affairs Minister in the new government. He was the Foreign Affairs Minister in 61st government again. On August 27, 2014, he was elected as the Chairman of JDP at the First Extraordinary Congress and has received the Proxyship for prime ministry on August 28, 2014 from the President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and was assigned to establish the 62nd Turkish Government. Ahmet Davutoglu has announced the list for council of ministers for 62nd Government on August 29, 2014. As a result of vote of confidence conducted at Turkish Grand National Assembly on September 6, 2014 Saturday; 62nd Turkish Government has officially started with its duty with 306 acceptance votes against 133 rejections. After June 7, 2015 elections he continued to be Prime Minister of 63rd Government (election government). On November 1, 2015 Justice and Development Party won the elections under his leadership. He was re-elected as Konya deputy and continued to be the Prime Minister.  Prof. Davutoglu continues his work as the Prime Minister of 64th Government which was established on November 24, 2015.

Prof. Davutoğlu is married to Mrs. Sare Davutoğlu, and he is the father of four children. The marriage between his daughter Sefure and Ahmet Ozokur, grandson of Sabri Ülker, founder of Yildiz Holding, has ended on March 9, 2015. Murat Ülker, executive board president of Yildiz Holding, is his classmate from high school. He speaks English, German, Malay and Arabic.

His several studies on international relations, regional analyses, comparative political philosophy and comparative history were published in different languages.
