Poet and writer (b. 21 July 1936, Kütahya - d. Ö. 11 Nisan 2011, İzmit). After
graduating from Kütahya Art Institute for Boys, Department of Metalwork (1954),
he graduated from the Title Deeds Course in İstanbul. He served as a technician
in land survey records and as a scientific civil servant in Turgutlu, Kütahya,
Sarıgöl (1961) and İzmit (1964) and he retired in 1982.
His first poetry book Yollarda (On the Roads) was published in the
review Yeşilay in 1954. Later, his
poems, book introductions and stories were published in reviews such as Türk Dili, Yeni Ufuklar, Soyut, Varlık,
Yeditepe, Güney, Dost, Yansıma, Yeni Adımlar, Türkiye Yazıları, Oluşum, Karşı
Öykü, Hürriyet Gösteri, Yazko Edebiyat, Kıyı, Adam, Gerçek Sanat, Yaklaşım,
Adam Sanat, Biçem etc. and in newspapers such as Milliyet, Yeni Ortam, Cumhuriyet and Kocaeli. Since 1994, he has been writing daily columns in the
journal Özgür Kocaeli. He is a member
of the Writers Syndicate of Turkey, the Human Rights Association, the Language
Society, the Press Council and the Turkish Authors Association. He also holds a
permanent press card. He has received awards from the Progressive Journalists
Association, chambers of commerce, municipalities, press foundations and
non-governmental organizations for the contributions he has made to the press
and Turkish literature. His name was given to the street in which he lives in
İzmit in 1994.
