Poet
and writer (b. 11 January 1960, İstanbul). His full name is Orhan Kâmil
Kâhyaoğlu. He has used Umut Bensan as a pen name on some musical works. He
attended Üsküdar İcadiye Primary School and graduated from Kadıköy Maarif
Collage (1979) and İstanbul University, Faculty of Economy, Department of
International Relations (1984). He published the reviews İmge /Ayrım (3 issue, 1984), Sombahar
(35 issue, 1990-96) and Ludingirra (11 issue, 1997-99). He worked as
head of the editorial department at Studyo İmge (1985-89). He directed Korsan
Publishing of which he was one of the founders (1990-96). He was a text writer
and advisor for some music programs that were prepared by the Turkish Radio and
Television Corporation’s İstanbul Television. He continued as Head of the Music
Department at Academy İstanbul.
His first article (with Z. Coşkun) was published in the
review İmge / Ayrım (1st issue, 1984)
and his first poem in Şiir Atı (4th
issue, 1987). Since then his work has been published in the reviews İmge/Ayrım, Stüdyo İmge, Varlık, Gösteri,
Şiir Atı, Sombahar, Milliyet Sanat, Ludingirra, Jazz and the newspapers Güneş, Milliyet, Hürriyet and Evrensel.
