Nay player. He was born on the 12th of July 1957 in Istanbul. He is the grandchild of nay player and composer Süleyman Erguner and son of nay player Ulvi Erguner. He learnt how to play nay from his father Ulvi Erguner. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University, State Conservatory (1979). In 1975 he served in the Radio of Istanbul as nay player. In 1978 he became a nay player in Istanbul Municipality Conservatory Group of Performers, in 1980 academic member in Turkish Music State Conservatory in the field of nay and Turkish Music Theory and Solmization. After he was assigned by the Higher Education Institute to Istanbul Technical University, State Conservatory (1985-88), he completed a master’s thesis on Turkish Music titled “Kutb-ı Nayi Osman Dede ve Rabt-ı Ta’birat-ı Musiki” in Marmara University Social Sciences Institute and Islamic History and Arts Department (1991) and a PhD titled “Rauf Yekta Bey ve Türk Musikisi Üzerindeki Çalışmaları” (1997). Aside from his academic membership in the conservatory he continued his works as nay player in TRT Radio of Istanbul and maestro of Sufi Music and Classical Turkish Music choirs. He was one of the founders and performers of Istanbul Mawlawi Council established in 1980. In 1996 he established the Mawlawi council.

He held presentations about music in various congresses and symposiums. His articles were published in magazines of Musiki Mecmuası, Kubbealtı, İzlenim, Sky Life and Sanat Dünyamız. He wrote articles for TDV (T.N Turkish Religious Foundation) Islamic Encyclopedia. In 1997 he was awarded with Turkish Music Award and Artist of the Year by Türkiye Yazarlar Birliği (T.N. Turkish Union of Authors).
