Author and
translator. He was born on August 10th, 1946 in Sivas. In 1966 he was graduated
from the Military academy. Due to political motives he was drummed out of the
army in 1971, afterwards he was imprisoned for 3 years. In 1975 he published a
monthly socialist culture journal named Birikim together with Murat Belge. He
served as the chief editor of the Journal.
His articles and
translations about current and political topics written with a perception not
indulging in uncritical approaches were commonly published in Birikim. Later on he collected his
political articles those had been published in this journal into a book. He
assumed the editorship of many books. After 12th September 1980
military coup he went abroad and lived in France for a while. He returned to
Turkey in 1989 and assumed the chief-editorship of Birikim once again.
