Journalist,
writer, academic, Professor, politician and statesman, XVI. Term Izmir
Deputy-42. Government Minister Of Culture (b. 10 July 1939 - d. 21 October
1999, Ankara). He was a graduate of Ankara University, Faculty of Political
Science. He did is doctorate studies at Paris Faculty of Law in 1967. He became
a professor in 1988. He worked in the editorial department of the journal Yenigün between 1962 and 1963 and served
as an academician after 1968.
He was elected a Republican People’s
Party parliamentary deputy for İzmir in 1977. He served as the Minister of
Culture during the term of the 42nd government formed by Bülent
Ecevit (1978-79). Returning to the university after the 12 September Coup
d’etat, Kışlalı taught political science at Ankara University, Faculty of
Communication. He had been writing columns under the title Haftaya Bakış in the newspaper Cumhuriyet
before he was gunned down in front of his house in Ankara.
